Wetsuits have come a long way in the last decade. With all the technology trickling down, mid-range suits have seen the most progression in wearability and price. These days, mid-range suits are a great value. We agree that it can be overwhelming to whittle down the best option for your needs and budget. Based on our expert advice and personal experience, we compiled a review of 2026's best mid-range women’s wetsuits in stock at the moment.
A mid-range wetsuit falls in the $350-$480 range: slightly better quality than an entry-level option, but not quite pushing into the $500+ world of super high-performing rubber and features. Let’s not waste another second as we jump right in.

-
The men's & women's Xcel Comp X is getting redesigned for Fall of 2026. A great wetsuit is becoming even better with Xcel's latest tech.
- Most surf brands are updating their wetsuit line-ups by transitioning to more sustainable, ocean-friendly materials such as natural rubber instead of neoprene.
O’Neill Women’s Hyperfreak - $369.95+
“Buttery Soft Neoprene”
- Trusted reputation
- Flexible TB3 & 3X
- Comfortable neoprene
- Warm F.U.Z.E zippper
- Not the most durable construction
- Slightly more expensive compared to previous models
Our Take: The O’Neill Hyperfreak is hands down the best value in mid-range wetsuits and gives surfers many of O’Neill’s best features in a straight-to-the-point suit. By cutting some of the more specialized features of high-end suits, the Hyperfreak gives you everything you really want at an affordable price.
As you may know by now, the Hyperfreak's most notable feature is the neoprene. Buttery soft and incredibly lightweight, the Techno Butter 3 (TBX3) neoprene takes the cake as our most flexible neoprene compared to all the other rubbers at our shop. The arms and legs utilize a variation in the rubber, resulting in even more flex and mobility. You’ll appreciate the extra stretch while paddling deep into the lineup and charging hard on big days.
Although the Hyperfreak doesn’t include the heavier exterior fluid seam weld typically found in similarly priced suits, it features a watertight seam construction. The combination of the GBS (glued and blindstitched) seams and the interior seam TB3X tape traps in the warmth while allowing optimal movement from top to bottom.
Lastly, the Hyperfreak is produced in a variety of thicknesses and sizes from 4 to 12 (including an 8T, which stands for “Tall”). If you’re looking for the ultimate lightweight suit at an affordable price, don’t waste another minute and grab one today. These suits sell quickly, so don’t hesitate to reach out for re-stock availability if you don’t see your size listed.

Our Take: Updated for the fall of 2026, the Patagonia Men's & Women's Regulator is a game-changer for Cleanline's wetsuit lineup. It is built to last and comes with the trusted Iron Clad warranty if anything goes wrong. Patagonia takes customer feedback seriously, and they have curated this Regulator wetsuit to meet the needs of the professional shredder, all the way to the beginner surfer who is just getting their feet wet.
With 100% neoprene free rubber and a recycled nylon liner, this wetsuit is up there, if not the most sustainable wetsuit on the market. You can feel good about your purchase with a high-performance wetsuit that has minimal impact on the environment.
Key updated features include a science-informed thickness, a complete revision of size/fit, and a U-zip entry system. These three key updates will make the wetsuit more comfortable, lightweight, and easier to get in/out of. Coming out soon, make sure to check with us if you're looking for the latest model.

“High-Performance flexibility”

- Water-tight sealed cuffs
- Durable 100% internal taping
- Not the best for broader upper bodies
Our Take: The Rip Curl E-Bomb is a high-performance wetsuit at the higher end of mid-range affordability. Even world champ Tyler Wright rocks this suit. It’s the perfect balance between the top-tier Flashbomb and the trusty Dawn Patrol, offering lightweight flexibility, warmth, and comfort without breaking the bank.
Available in zip-free and back zip models, the E-Bomb lets you choose what works best. The zip-free version maximizes flexibility, making paddling effortless, while the back zip is a great option if you prefer easier entry and exit. Not sure which to pick? Check out our Women’s Guide to Wetsuit Entries for a deep dive into the differences.
This latest model features E6 neoprene and a super flexible E6 Thermo liner, making it 20% stretchier, 15% lighter, and 10% warmer than its predecessor. It runs on the smaller side, so if you’re between sizes, size up for the best fit.
If you're looking for a lightweight, flexible suit that won’t hold you back, the E-Bomb is a standout choice. Designed for women who charge hard, this suit delivers pro-level performance without the premium price tag.

Manera Women’s Seafarer - $269.00+
"Premium features and design"

- Elite reputation at an affordable price
- 3D design for ultimate fit and comfort
- True to size
- GBS seams
- Not as warm as the Magma or other high-end wetsuits
- No hooded option
- No key stash
Our Take: The Manera Seafarer isn’t just another mid-range wetsuit; it’s a standout choice that delivers premium performance at a solid price point. Thanks to Manera’s cutting-edge 3D design, the Seafarer offers one of the best fits we've experienced, hugging the body like a second skin while still allowing for full range of motion.
Built for high-performance surfing, this suit strikes the perfect balance of warmth, stretch, and durability. It features Manera’s S-Foam neoprene, an entry-level material that still feels buttery soft and flexible. And here’s a pleasant surprise: the X10D liner, the same ultra-stretchy, quick-drying material used in the $470 X10D suit, is integrated into the Seafarer—giving you top-tier tech without the premium price tag. We put it to the test in the chilly Oregon surf, and it delivered impressive warmth and freedom of movement, proving that affordability doesn’t mean sacrificing performance.
If sustainability is on your radar, the Seafarer has you covered. Made with limestone-based neoprene, recycled materials, water-based glue, and dope-dyed yarn, it’s a responsible choice for eco-conscious surfers.
Bottom line? If you're after a reliable, eco-friendly wetsuit that punches above its price range, the Manera Women’s Seafarer is definitely worth a spot in your surf lineup.

Xcel Women’s Comp X - $399.95+
“Best all-round performance"

- Strong reputation
- Broader fit
- True to size
- GBS Seams
- Higher price tag
- Snug fit initially
- Slight redesign for fall of 2026
Our Take: The Xcel Women’s Comp X is a premium wetsuit designed for surfers who demand flexibility, warmth, and sustainability in one sleek package. Made with Channel Flex Japanese limestone-based neoprene, this suit offers incredible stretch and lightweight comfort, giving you the freedom to paddle, duck dive, and carve with ease. Plus, it’s eco-friendly, making it a great choice for ocean lovers who care about sustainability.
When it comes to staying warm, the Comp X doesn’t hold back. Xcel’s Thermo Dry Celliant (TDC) lining in the chest and back panels works to retain body heat, so you can stay in the water longer, even on chillier days. The FusionX seam tape ensures a smooth, watertight seal for added durability, while Drylock wrist seals help keep cold water out. One thing to note: the Comp X doesn’t have Smoothskin panels for wind resistance, which might be a factor if you frequently surf in breezy conditions.
At the higher end of the mid-range price spectrum, the Comp X is an investment—but a worthwhile one. If you're looking for a high-performance wetsuit that combines unmatched flexibility, warmth, and an eco-conscious design, this suit delivers. Whether you're pushing your limits in the lineup or just want to feel your absolute best in the water, the Xcel Women’s Comp X is a standout option that won’t disappoint.
