Additional Info

A First In Wetsuits

The first wetsuit designed with a NetPlus® nylon, made from 100% recycled fishing nets. All internal and external face fabrics are made with NetPlus® postconsumer recycled nylon made from recycled fishing nets to help reduce ocean plastic pollution, and solution-dyed, a process that uses no water in the dyeing process.

U-Zip Entry

Created by their friends at AXXE Wetsuits and enhanced through Patagonia’s technical approach, this collaborative design combines ease of entry with reduced flushing; the YKK® #5 stretch-coil zipper provides excellent stretch and comfort and has an extended, easy-to-reach zipper pull.

Size & Fit

Because the fit of a wetsuit is as important to your warmth as material thickness, they've completely redesigned all patterns for unbridled mobility. Their material development team worked with unique materials, took the interior liner idea from the Regulator® and applied it to the new NetPlus® wetsuit liner, adding a grid pattern to trap heat.

Density Remapping

Their wetsuit engineers have used science-based data to map out where you lose the most heat while surfing. The study revealed that your legs lose the most heat. With no compromise to flexibility, they have changed the thickness and density remapping of their suit. For example their 5/4mm is 4mm only in the arms and 5mm everywhere else. Most wetsuits on the market would have 4mm in all extremities (arms & legs) with a 5mm core.

External Cuff Gaskets

External wrist and ankle rubber gaskets provide a secure fit and help prevent a blowout while dragging arm in the tube (or unforced dismounts).

Solution Dyed

They are the first to do a solution dyed NetPlus® and in a dull luster. The full dull yarn gives the wetsuits a more matte black appearance, better light fastness, UV resistance and abrasion resistance. Their process uses no water in when dying. They add color at the molten yarn creation stage, resulting in a color that is an integral part of the fiber itself, leading to a superior color fastness and reduced environmental impact.

Preferred Materials

The Patagonia wetsuits are made with neoprene-free rubber tapped from hevea trees that can produce rubber for up to 30 years. It replaced conventional non-renewable neoprene. All internal and external fabrics are now made from Solution Dyed NetPlus® post-consumer recycled nylon from recycled fishing nets, a first in the wetsuit industry. They are warmer, stretchier, more durable, and comfortable than ever before. The entire Patagonia Regulator® wetsuit and accessories lineup now uses Reclaimed Carbon Black (RCB) as the carbon black input. Production of Bolder Industries' BolderBlack® uses 90%+ less water and emits 90%+ fewer greenhouse gasses than traditional carbon black. Made in a Fair Trade Certified® factory, which means the people who made this product earned a premium for their labor.
