The Slater Designs FRK Surfboard was designed by Dan Mann as an everyday high-performance shortboard for Kelly Slater. Meant to be ridden in a variety of conditions, Kelly Slater has been seen riding the Firewire Surfboards FRK LFT Surfboard everywhere. In his machine-made wave pool, Jeffrey’s Bay, the North Shore, and everywhere in between. From the first wave he rode, Kelly knew he had something special. In fact, most the FRK's Kelly has been seen riding have been stock boards straight from Firewire’s factory. The board features a single to double concave for maximum speed and control while maintaining medium rails for added paddle power. The round tail and five fin option make this board suitable for a wide range of surf. From average beach breaks to pulsing reef breaks, the FRK was built to perform. I think Dan Mann explained it best when he was asked to describe the board.
“If I had to describe the nuts and bolts of the FRKs design, I’d simply say it’s made to make you forget it’s there. When designing boards for Kelly I’m trying to remove as many variables as possible and make it something that can level up his talents, or the talents of other surfers, without any glitches, or ever feeling like it's in your way. I can’t wait to see everyone riding it in 19." —Dan Mann

Product Construction
Linear Flex Technology - LFT
LFT incorporates Firewire’s SPRINGER HD, a 0.75” (18 mm) wide aerospace composite that runs down the centerline of the board, representing the next generation in our SPRINGER technology. The SPRINGER HD runs the entire length of the board and plays a pivotal role in optimizing flex from nose to tail. LTF’s deckskin serves as an additional buffer against the ridging effect that center stringers create over time, while simultaneously working in tandem with the SPRINGER HD to optimize the overall flex pattern of the LFT technology.
