Additional Info

Made from lighter-weight but still ultrawarm 7mm 85% natural rubber/15% synthetic rubber by polymer content, the updated Patagonia R5 Yulex 7mm Round Toe Boots keep your feet warm and comfortable while offering essential dexterity and control in the most frigid surf conditions. With a fast-drying 95% polyester (51% recycled)/5% spandex inverted microgrid thermal lining and an 88% recycled polyester/12% spandex face fabric, they have a round-toe design for maximum warmth, a micro gasket at the ankle to cuff to help prevent water entry, and a flexible Supratex back for increased comfort and durability. Diamond-grip, nonmarking soles provide reliable traction, and a Y-Strap closure holds the bootie snug to your foot for extra support; the hook-and-loop patch is stretchy for increased flex as the foot and ankle move. Pull rings at the heels make the booties easy to get on and off, and are triple bartacked for strength. 100% external seam sealing eliminates leaks; all seams are triple glued and internally taped. The face fabric and lining are now solution-dyed—using 86% less water than conventional dyeing—and are laminated with water-based AquaA glue that’s free from harmful volatile organic compounds (VOCs). The natural rubber content is derived from sources that are Forest Stewardship Council certified by the Rainforest Alliance. Made in a Fair Trade Certified facility.

Great Lakes surfing

I bought these for winter surfing in Chicago -- air temps in teens and 20s, water in the mid 30s. They are not perfect: my feet are cold after about 2 hours in the water. But so are my hands and, generally, my body (in 6/5). There is probably warmer gear on the market, but I like what Patagonia stands for, and, given that, I'd highly recommend these.

They're also soft and comfy and give a relatively good feel.

I think they gonna work

I have struggled over the years to find a bootie that I don’t have an allergic reaction to. I ordered these under the indication that they were more hypoallergenic than others. I wear a size 7 normally and so ordered a 7, which took 10 to 15 minutes to pull on and take off at home, including help from my wife. So, I ordered a size 8 and they were still challenging to get off after being in the water, especially with cold hands. And after three days in a row, I began to have some reaction on my feet. So, next I put on a pair of wool socks and so far, so good. No reaction and much easier to get off than with just wet skin. I surf on a river in 40 - 45 degree temperatures and they are toasty warm.

Add 1/2 size up.

Nice boots, well made but - I'm usually an 8 1/2 show so I ordered an 8 (thinking I didn't want them loose) and the fit is *very* snug....
