Product Info

The O'Neill Pyscho Tech is one of our top selling wetsuits so we were excited when O'Neill added 0.5mm of extra warmth to this already hi-tech wetsuit. Made with buttery soft TechnoButter 3 neoprene the O'Neill Psycho Tech 4/3+ Back Zip Wetsuit will keep you toasty warm with its heat generating TechnoButter Air-Firewall insulating interior jersey. To ensure water stays out it has super seal cuffs, the Z.E.N. (zip entry system) closure, and a urethane coated zipper with offset teeth that acts as an anti-flushing barrier. Best of all it was constructed using a stitchless seam technology and a fluid seam weld to keep water out. Stay warm and toasty in any condition with the Pyscho Tech Plus.

Great suit but...

I've basically been using this model or version for over 15 years (pyscho tech, freak, pyscho one, etc) whatever suit is top of the line. The latest versions, Pyscho Tech, are the warmest and most flexible. However, they seem to be the least durable. The seams around the smoothie chest and inside in the shoulders come apart way too easily. Like some other have said, O'Neill is doing their loyal customers dirty with their new warranty rules. Any suit over $400 should have a 2 year warranty on seams. Especially if they are coming back for repair in large numbers like the first year Pyscho Techs were.

Warm and comfortable, but seams wear out really quickly

I've been a loyal user of O'Neill since the 80s. Was very excited about this model. Loved it for the first few weeks but was surprised when after only 2 months of use, the glued seams in the front came apart. This despite being very careful about rinsing and keeping out of heat and sun. Very disappointing given the price. Send them to be fixed at a local store, but fix only lasted 3-4 sessions. Still using, but water starting to seep in.

Warning: Seams Are Not Durable

I've worn O'Neill wetsuits since 1972. This model wetsuit has kept me warm surfing in Monterey and Santa Cruz Counties. However, the triple-glued exterior seams come apart with normal use so I've had repair them with neoprene cement. Also, the TBX3-taped interior seams delaminate in the cuff areas. These issues should not occur for the price especially since I am meticulous about properly rinsing and drying the suit. I've also seen these issues on my friends' PsychoTech suits. O'Neill in Santa Cruz will now only repair a suit during the first year. Before, they would take any O'Neill suit to send to their National City, CA repair facility. It's unfortunate that their higher-end suits are no longer durable.

Good 'ol O'Neill

Need the back zip for aging shoulders and the pull over neck gasket keeps it from flushing. O'Neill has the best fit for me and I've tried them all in my 40+ years in the water. The rubber is the best yet, still not sold on the "+" since a 4 mil has always been ok.
On the negative side: Fluid Weld seams are giving out before the rubber. On my last suit the Weld cracked on the inside and it scratched my chest and shoulders. There seems to be no way to cover or remove the Weld. Shame since the suit is otherwise in good condition. O'Neill's response of "We no longer repair out of warranty suits" - end of story - wasn't well received. But I did get almost 3 years out of the last one, much better than the usual year and a half lifespan.

Awesome wetsuit
Great

I surf northern California, 52 degree waters, and my oneill epic had me cold after an hour. This wetsuit I feel warm and can surf over 2 hours and stay warm. It is easy on and off, the bib keeps it just as warm as a chest zip but easier to get in and out of. It is also more flexible than my last wetsuit 4/3 yet a lot warmer. Perfect for cold waters.
