Product Info

The Album Fascination twin is great for boards with wider tails, and traditional fish shapes, for down the line speed with lots of maneuverability. These will provide generous amounts of hold on steeper waves while also helping generate speed on Smaller softer waves.

The Matt Parker designed Album fins are part of NVS' Apex Series lineup. Matt designed these to complement his board designs. G10 is made by compressing layers of fiberglass and epoxy resin and baking it an autoclave to have the maximum strength of any fiberglass available.

NVS APEX SERIES FINS

NVS Apex Series Fiberglass Fins: The Pinnacle of Performance.

Better Materials:

  • Apex: Made using G10; an industrial grade fiberglass, which is manufactured to the highest quality standard. Made by heating special fibers with epoxy resin under intense pressure in order to make a perfect panel; they eliminated the errors which can occur by using a hand layup. By heating the fibers and resin under pressure NVS is left with the ideal resin to fiber ratio in order to maximize strength and decrease weight.
  • Apex Flex: Made using Volan Fiberglass for increased flex through the body of the fin.

Better Foiling:
One of the main benefits to NVS' Apex line of fins is that each fin is cut on a CNC machine using the exact foil profiles NVS developed.

  • SeriesIII: The benchmark of high performance. NVS uses a very specific foil that was derived from a series of NACA foils whose purpose was to increase laminar flow (speed) while decreasing turbulent flow (drag). This translates to a fin that allows for faster/easier generation of speed and has a wider angle of attack, which means you won’t lose as much speed while bottom turning or going through hard cutbacks.
  • Concave: or inside foils are used on board where you want easier rail to rail transitions. Concave foils will generate more hold at slower speeds but will not be able to go as fast as flat foiled fins.
  • Retro: Used on some longboard fins such as the Da Clutch and Gypsy which feature a more period appropriate foil to suite the classic board designs.

Better Manufacturing:
By using cutting edge CNC machines and precise designs they machine cut each fin in order to have the perfect foil and finish. All NVS fins are designed 100% in house using advanced 3D software.

This is what makes the Apex Series G10 fins the strongest most high performance fins in the world.

G10 + CNC = great

The combination of G10 material with CNC machining makes for a really precise, well-finished product. The G10 should last many years longer than other constructions with minimal flex change. They're not the lightest fins but they feel bulletproof. The stronger/stiffer material means a thinner foil for these fins and this template falls nicely between a keel and an upright twin: it keeps that longer keel base while maintaining that smaller tip for release with a fairly constant reduction in area from base to tip. Obviously every fin/board combo will be different but for my board, these fins somehow have more drive and more controlled release without losing connection than the other twins I've tried on it (both uprights and keels). For reference, my twins have modern placement with the fins pushed pretty far back and I'm 175lbs.
