Product Info

The Moe is a mid-length that caters equally to beginners, experienced shortboarders looking for a bit more volume on slow days, and experienced longboarders who feel like riding something a bit shorter. The width and volume distribution give the Moe good paddle power without sacrificing maneuverability, while a flat bottom contour up front gives way to double concave beneath the fins for drive and big carves. Thin rails that transition from rounded up front to a hard, tucked-under edge through the tail keep the board sensitive and provide control. With a large sweet spot and a variety of fin options available, this is a wide-spectrum, high-performance, user-friendly board that works for all skill levels, and helps bring the fun back to everyday sessions. It really excels in weaker waves.

Product Construction

Thunderbolt Technology
Thunderbolt Technology utilizes advanced materials and technology to decrease weight while enhancing performance, flex characteristics, board control, and durability. Mass-produced epoxy boards are corky and stiff. While light and durable, they simply don’t ride well. But Thunderbolt’s hand-built boards take superior epoxy materials to an entirely different level. These boards provide the feel and sensitivity of a good poly board but deliver performance far beyond traditional epoxy pop-out constructions. Indeed, those who ride these high-tech epoxy boards claim they actually feel better than polyurethane. Thunderbolt boards are 100% hand layups. They begin with an EPS foam core with multi-component carbon fiber stringer systems that produce engineered flex and twist for a more lively, responsive performance. Proprietary designs employing internal carbon fiber components are then arrayed in the deck and bottom of the deck for precise flex control and strength. The core shield PVC provides flexible protection to increase strength and durability without compromising the flex and twist characteristics built into the blank. With ample carbon fiber and fiberglass in the deck, bottom, and rails, these boards both outperform and outlast traditional PU boards and other epoxy designs.

Thunderbolt Red
There are 3 construction types within the Thunderbolt Technology. Thunderbolt Red is handcrafted using an all-around fiberglass lamination. The bottom laminations are 6 and 2-oz. layers while the deck lamination is 6 and 4-ounces. The handcrafted result is a competition weight and flex longboard.

Additional Info

When I started out designing the MOE mid-length range I wanted to have an easy ride and good paddling, while keeping good stability and support. The bottom is pretty flat with a double concave between your feet, a really good combination for carving turns in a wide board. Rails are not too thick, for sensitivity, and they transition from neutral round forward through round tucked edge to the fin area and low hard behind the fins. The rails are foiled from forward of center toward the tail, for drive through turns and good travel around white water sections. The rocker is pretty even like the HIHP and a 5fin FCS II setup makes this a great fun board / one quiver board for traveling in fun wave areas.” — Harley Ingleby
