Product Info

The Mid 6 range has been designed to give maximum mid-length performance in all wave types. The fine, round pin tail, curvy plan shape, smooth rocker, with a bit of nose flip is equally comfortable turning deep in the pocket or long open-face arcs. High nose rails through to mid tucked and low hard in the tail, foiled from the center for a nice balance of drive through sections while maintaining hold through tight turning arcs. While the Mid 6 fires in everyday surf, it is tuned enough to handle some pretty serious surf comfortably.

Product Construction

Thunderbolt Technology
Thunderbolt Technology utilizes advanced materials and technology to decrease weight while enhancing performance, flex characteristics, board control, and durability. Mass-produced epoxy boards are corky and stiff. While light and durable, they simply don’t ride well. But Thunderbolt’s hand-built boards take superior epoxy materials to an entirely different level. These boards provide the feel and sensitivity of a good poly board but deliver performance far beyond traditional epoxy pop-out constructions. Indeed, those who ride these high-tech epoxy boards claim they actually feel better than polyurethane. Thunderbolt boards are 100% hand layups. They begin with an EPS foam core with multi-component carbon fiber stringer systems that produce engineered flex and twist for a more lively, responsive performance. Proprietary designs employing internal carbon fiber components are then arrayed in the deck and bottom of the deck for precise flex control and strength. The core shield PVC provides flexible protection to increase strength and durability without compromising the flex and twist characteristics built into the blank. With ample carbon fiber and fiberglass in the deck, bottom, and rails, these boards both outperform and outlast traditional PU boards and other epoxy designs.

Thunderbolt Red
There are 3 construction types within the Thunderbolt Technology. Thunderbolt Red is handcrafted using an all-around fiberglass lamination. The bottom laminations are 6 and 2-oz. layers while the deck lamination is 6 and 4-ounces. The handcrafted result is a competition weight and flex longboard.

Additional Info

The Mid 6 is currently available in 3 sizes. Smallest being a 7'0 x 20 ½ x 2 ⅝ at 40.3L and the largest is a 7'10 x 21 ¼ x 2 ¾ at 50.6L. The 7'6 in between at 21 x 2 ¾ and 47.9L. This isn't a direct scale between the 7'0 and 7'10. It shares all the same performance attributes but has a much larger rail size for someone who wants more volume out wide.

Billy has blended the 6 channels perfectly. They are not so aggressive that they track in turns at all. It’s very easy to break a line or adjust your arc length anywhere on the wave’s face. With the channels balanced between your feet, when you push hard through a turn the response is immediate and the acceleration throughout is like no other board. It definitely breaks the channel bottom stereotype that they're only good in clean waves. You'll love it in everything!

Paddles like a 7’6 but surfs like a 6’0

This board is amazing! I weigh 225 and got the 7’6 but am now curious about the 7’0. It is truly a ripple midlength. It does shine in a certain style of wave. Needs something about chest high and a little bit crumbly and it flys! Kinda tough to surf in the shore-break or quick dumpy little waves. Haven’t gotten into anything bigger than a foot or two overhead. Also, haven’t gotten it into any serious powerful waves yet, but it seems to be incredibly versatile. When you’re on it, you’re basically surfing it from the tail. There’s no nose-riding on this thing. But it’s incredibly responsive for a big board. You can definitely rip on this thing.

Sick stick

High performance 7'0 that rips. Just what I was hoping for when I ordered it, and it didn't disappoint.
