Product Construction
Thunderbolt Red
There are 3 construction types within the Thunderbolt Technology. Thunderbolt Red is handcrafted using an all-around fiberglass lamination. The bottom laminations are 6 and 2-oz. layers while the deck lamination is 6 and 4-ounces. The handcrafted result is a competition weight and flex longboard.
Additional Info
The Moe range by Harley Ingleby Series is now available in sizes under 7 feet, making this versatile board accessible to a broader surfing community and bridging the gap between mid-length and high-performance surfboards. Suitable for surfers of all sizes, weights, and skill levels, the Moe range offers options to suit nearly everyone.
The mid-length Moe range is crafted for ease of ride and paddling, with an emphasis on stability and support. Featuring a flat bottom with a double concave between the feet, it’s well-suited for carving turns on a wide board. The rails are designed for sensitivity, transitioning from a neutral round shape at the front through a tucked edge near the fin area to a low hard edge behind the fins. Foiling extends from the center forward toward the tail, enhancing drive through turns and allowing smooth travel around white water sections.
Fin setups for the Moe range are versatile, with both thruster and quad options recommended. For sizes 6'6"–6'10", the FCS Harley large mid set is recommended, while the FCS Harley XL quad set is ideal for the 7'2", 7'4", and 8'0" models. Medium to large quad rears with an 80/20 foil paired with flat foiled large to XL front fins are suggested for optimal performance.
Thunderbolt Technology
Thunderbolt Technology utilizes advanced materials and technology to decrease weight while enhancing performance, flex characteristics, board control, and durability. Mass-produced epoxy boards are corky and stiff. While light and durable, they simply don’t ride well. But Thunderbolt’s hand-built boards take superior epoxy materials to an entirely different level. These boards provide the feel and sensitivity of a good poly board but deliver performance far beyond traditional epoxy pop-out constructions. Indeed, those who ride these high-tech epoxy boards claim they actually feel better than polyurethane. Thunderbolt boards are 100% hand layups. They begin with an EPS foam core with multi-component carbon fiber stringer systems that produce engineered flex and twist for a more lively, responsive performance. Proprietary designs employing internal carbon fiber components are then arrayed in the deck and bottom of the deck for precise flex control and strength. The core shield PVC provides flexible protection to increase strength and durability without compromising the flex and twist characteristics built into the blank. With ample carbon fiber and fiberglass in the deck, bottom, and rails, these boards both outperform and outlast traditional PU boards and other epoxy designs.
