Product Info

The True Ames Lovelace Thicklizzy Single Fin has plenty of base, but a narrow and flexy tip. Suited well for mini gliders and all kinds of single fins, and not surprisingly - specifically the ThickLizzy. Based originally on the v.Bowls fin but aimed at a little lighter approach. It is less drive and power-hungry than the beefy v.Bowls fin, and equally happy to be heavily pressured as it is to be grooved with ease.

Materials
A fin design is only as good as the materials used for construction. At True Ames, they carefully select the most well-suited types of fiberglass and wood for producing the highest quality fins available. In order to achieve the performance characteristics that have become the standard of solid fiberglass surf fins, True Ames uses E-glass. It is the most common type of fiberglass used in surfboard construction, and its qualities translate with great success into fin construction. E-glass has excellent flex characteristics and performance longevity, while featuring the bonus of outstanding color vibrancy that allows for the variety of colors we offer.

History & Origin

True Ames is thrilled about their long partnership with Ryan Lovelace, who has truly revolutionized the alternative surfboard scene. His meticulous attention to detail, strong work ethic, and dedication to hand-shaping, combined with his unique ability to blend vintage and modern designs, have carved out a special niche for him in the surfing industry. Ryan's journey with surfing began during family vacations to Hawaii in the 90s, where he started developing his connection to the ocean and first tried surfing at 14. By the age of 19, driven by curiosity and the high cost of new boards, Ryan started shaping his own. The positive feedback he received from riders and his growing dislike for the corporate world after studying business and marketing in college inspired him to pursue surfboard shaping professionally. Today, Ryan is recognized as one of the world's most accomplished hand-shapers. His boards have been featured in numerous prestigious surf publications, he boasts a global community of supporters, and he's even won the Icons of Foam Tribute to the Masters Shape Off. True Ames is incredibly excited to have collaborated with Ryan over the past few years to share his fin templates and eagerly anticipate what the future holds for their partnership.
