This fin has its roots in George's windsurfer! He, and others, have lent strong encouragement to bring this design to the surf world. The basic theory is a "stiff leg" and "active paddle" (sometimes called the paddle fin). By putting the working part of the fin deeper in the "clean" water, the feeling is solid yet highly maneuverable. This fin is one of the only designs we have ever claimed to noseride as well as it performs in the turns. The 9.75" is a perfect complement to a 9'6" single fin. These fins surf a bit Smaller than their size compared with conventional fin sizing.

Cleanline Staff Sammy Says:"The Greenough Stage-6 was a huge experiment in the late 60's/early 70's when it came to fin design and has been perfected over the years. I find this fin to be very loose on its own, almost to a fault. But at the same time, it can have some spring through a turn. It works best in specific boards like 2+1 performance boards, single fin edge boards and hull bottom single fins. I recommend sizing up from your board size or if your board has a wider tail unless you want it to be very loose."

Additional Info
A fin design is only as good as the materials used for construction. At True Ames, they carefully select the most well-suited types of fiberglass and wood for producing the highest quality fins available. In order to achieve the performance characteristics that have become the standard of solid fiberglass surf fins, True Ames uses E-glass. It is the most common type of fiberglass used in surfboard construction, and its qualities translate with great success into fin construction. E-glass has excellent flex characteristics and performance longevity, while featuring the bonus of outstanding color vibrancy that allows for the variety of colors we offer.
