Why You'll Love This Fin
The Swallow design will pair well with a variety of single fins, finding its best match with mid-length eggy boards. Fly through and around sections with the ample drive created by the Swallow 8.5". Unique blend of drive and control, the Swallow is reliable and highly versatile.

Form | Wide base transitions to a quickly narrowing tip with nice bit of flex.

Function | Drivey full-based fin, the narrow top third provides sensitivity.

Feel | Hard carving single fin, plenty of drive and projection.

Overall | Solid and reliable for all-purpose single fin surfing.

Materials
A fin design is only as good as the materials used for construction. At True Ames, they carefully select the most well-suited types of fiberglass and wood for producing the highest quality fins available. In order to achieve the performance characteristics that have become the standard of solid fiberglass surf fins, True Ames uses E-glass. It is the most common type of fiberglass used in surfboard construction, and its qualities translate with great success into fin construction. E-glass has excellent flex characteristics and performance longevity, while featuring the bonus of outstanding color vibrancy that allows for the variety of colors we offer.

History & Origin

Barrett Miller is a young Californian surfer and surfboard shaper whose roots trace back to Capistrano Beach, California. He began shaping boards around age 14, driven by the wish to surf equipment that didn’t yet exist. Over time, his talent gained recognition from established figures in the surf world. Barrett has worked under the banner of Lamination Surf Design in San Diego, producing boards for his own label as well as for Joel Tudor Surfboards and THC. His design style is heavily influenced by classic 1970s single-fin forms and traditional log shapes, with inspiration drawn from legendary shapers such as Donald Takayama, Skip Frye, and Dick Brewer. As both surfer and craftsman, Barrett develops and tests his boards in Southern California lineups, refining them for retro-inspired performance in contemporary waves.
