Product Construction
I-Bolic 2.0 Core Technology
I-beam core construction with flex controlled at the rails using high density foam - an engineering feat developed for performance. I-Bolic 2.0 Technology offers the same speed, control, strength and response as the original, but with increased strength due to a fully engineered carbon strip inlay on the bottom deck and an updated look.
Fiberglass Lamination Technology
Like all of Firewire's lamination technologies, their standard lamination utilizes bio resin. The deck starts with a layer of E Glass, with a 3mm high density composite skin overtop, wrapped in a second layer of 4oz. E Glass. The bottom has two layers of 4oz. E Glass.
Additional Info
The board ridden by the 11x World Champion during his memorable Kirra sessions in March 2024, meet the Slater Designs Spaceship Surfboard by Mike Woo and Kelly Slater. A high performance model for good waves, the Spaceship represents decades of R&D by Mike Woo (@woosurfboards). Having previously shaped the Great White Twin for Kelly inspired by the outline of a Great White Shark, Mike and Kelly set out to craft a more conventional outline designed for hold in tubes, turns on rail, and hold in round wave faces from Canggu to Coolangatta.
Unveiled in March 2024 during Kelly's historic sessions at Kirra, this is Kelly's favorite shape for good waves, especially reef passes, point breaks, and perfect beach breaks.
Wave Type
This is Kelly Slater's favorite shape for good waves - a more conventional outline with incredible hold in round wave faces. The shape comes to life in tubes over reef passes, turns on rail at point breaks, with lots of hold in perfect beach breaks, but also works as a performance shortboard at waves like Lowers.
Board Features
This shape has the DNA of a Bali-tube-shooter, the Spaceship represents decades of R&D by Mike Woo. Featuring a rounded pintail with a single concave in the front half of the board that runs into a double concave between your feet, performance rails, and rocker to fit into the curve of good waves.

I-Bolic Core Technology

The Firewire patent pending I-Bolic core technology is an engineering feat developed for performance, without the need for external carbon layups or heavy laminations. These models offer the stiffness of Linear Flex Technology (LFT) with the flex and spring-back of their best-selling Helium technology. This is Kelly Slater's favorite technology to ride, offering speed, control, strength and response.
I-Bolic Performance
I-Bolic cores have the stiffness of the Firewire old Linear Flex Technology (LFT) with the flex and spring-back of their best-selling Helium technology. The I-beam ensures firmness underfoot and unparalleled break strength, while the high density foam parabolic rails enable flex and recoil through turns.
I-Bolic Construction
The Firewire I-Bolic technology is a 1.5 lb EPS foam core with a 18mm high density foam stringer in the core, 16mm high density foam parabolic rails to control flex, and a 5mm high density foam springer on the bottom. Paired with their standard fiberglass lamination, on the deck it has a 3mm high density composite deck skin on the deck sandwiched between the double 4 oz E fiberglass cloth layers, and also has double 4 oz E fiberglass capping the bottom.
I-Bolic Lamination Compatibility
I-Bolic cores are paired with standard fiberglass lamination, AWT fiberglass lamination, and Volcanic lamination.
