Product Construction
Linear Flex Technology — LFT
LFT construction incorporates a white deckskin into their proven sandwich EPS construction methodology as well as the Springer HD, a 0.75” (18 mm) wide aerospace composite that runs down the center-line of the board, representing the next generation in Firewire's Springer technology. Though Linear Flex Technology may appear to be a simple construction employing familiar design philosophies found in traditionally built surfboards, nothing could be further from the truth. The Springer HD runs the entire length of the board and plays a pivotal role in optimizing flex from nose to tail. The end result is a durable surfboard with lively flex patterns that will maintain its hi-performance characteristics over time.
Volcanic Lamination
Forged in fire, this Basalt lamination technology is Firewire's sustainable alternative to carbon, and is their most durable with elevated response.

Wave Type
In line with Tomo's passion of creating ultra high-performance designs, the Cymatic wants to be in decent to good waves. The double bat tail gives you grip in hollower waves, and the lift and speed created by Tomo's Quad Inside Single Concave will allow you to make sections you previously thought impossible. Recommended in 2-6' surf and will work in any conditions, but excels in average to good waves.
Board Features
The top half of the Omni combined with the bottom half of the Sci-Fi gets you quite close to the Cymatic's outline. This shape has reduced swing weight because of the snub nose and slightly more rocker than the Sci-Fi, with an increased ease of use in waves below head high. Recommended with the KS1 fin template, ridden as a quad set in a smaller size than you normally would ride.

Volcanic Lamination Technology

Volcanic lamination technology is made from basalt, a natural element that comes from volcanic rocks. These volcanic rocks are crushed, melted down and then extruded into woven fibers that make up the basalt cloth Firewire uses in this lamination technology. This process requires the basalt rock to get to about 1,500 degrees Celsius (2,730 degrees Fahrenheit.)
The cloth has the same functional characteristics to carbon, making it a sustainable alternative to carbon, which is very bad for the environment. While basalt fiber has been around for decades, it's relatively new to fiber reinforced polymers (FRPs) and structural composites used for surfboard manufacturing. It has a similar chemical composition to glass fiber, but better strength characteristics.
Volcanic Performance
Firewire's most durable construction with elevated response. This sustainable alternative to carbon is stronger than carbon and can also withstand higher temperatures than carbon, making it a top choice for the aerospace industry in the manufacturing of rockets and jet engines. It also has higher elasticity than traditional carbon, allowing the board to have more flex for a natural feel underfoot.
Volcanic Construction
The Firewire Volcanic lamination schedule is double 4 oz basalt cloth on the deck, and single 4 oz basalt cloth on the bottom.
Shipping Used Surfboards
Before placing your order, carefully look over the product photos, and read the board condition description on our website. We are happy to provide additional photos upon request, however, please note that photos are not a perfect substitute for seeing the board in person. Some cosmetic differences may be noticeable once you have the board in hand. Because we don't take returns on used surfboards, we want you to be aware of this and get the best possible sense of the board's condition.
