Product Construction

Helium Technology
Ridden by everyone from Kellly Slater and Stuey Kennedy and Pacha Light. Each Helium shape is cut from the lightest foam blank in Firewire's stable – just .8 pounds, combined with a brand- new rail they crafted for Helium, using both Paulownia wood from their TimberTek boards and balsa wood from Firewire's FST boards. It’s all wrapped in a brand new deckskin material we’re introducing for the first time. By pairing existing features from the highly successful FST (Future Shapes Technology) build process with an alternative sandwich skin material, Firewire has created Helium construction which uses this new composite in conjunction with a redesigned parabolic wood rail that includes both Balsa and Paulownia woods. The end result is that Helium has a 15% weight reduction over FST, a slightly faster flex and rebound characteristic, as well as a higher breakpoint. Lighter, stronger and more responsive... Helium is the future under your feet.

Great Grovler for PNW

I picked up a Mashup from Cleanline between Christmas and New Years last year, since then I have surfed since then I have surfed it in Hawaii (Oahu) and my regular Newport breaks. I have run all the fin configurations with quad being my favorite (and I guess this is what the board was mostly designed for) I found the twin/+1 way to racey and my mind couldn’t keep up with the board. It performs best for me in the 2-4’ wave range and feels amazing underfoot especially while on the rail. I do find it sluggish with a thruster but was likely a poor choice on smaller days. I would recommend this board to anyone looking to get onto a shorter board in sluggish conditions and is so much fun with the added advantage of hardly needing to paddle into most waves. For my skill level I start having trouble with it on more steeper punchy faces. Likely heading down to Mazatlan in Mexico in a month or two and this board will definitely be making the trip.
