Quality waves deserve a great board and the Pyzel Ghost Surfboard just might be the one. The Ghost is a daily driver/high-performance board that works great for all levels of surfer and could be considered a one-board quiver for any surf trip with decent to good waves on the menu. A super versatile board, it has become one of JJF's favorites for all kinds of surf (Margaret River winner, Bells Ollie Oop, J-Bay carves) and a go-to for many surfers around the world. Originally designed for performance in hollower, more powerful types of waves, the Ghost has proven to be great for reef breaks, dumpy beachies, and also excels in point waves.

Based off of Pyzel's Short Cut, The Ghost outline is more refined: it still has the wide point pushed a bit forward of center, but the nose area is kept down and the tail slightly pulled in to help it fit into a tighter curve. The thickness is also pushed forward, which helps even more with getting you into waves easily, and we kept the tail and rails thinned out to help hold through barrels and turns at speed. The rocker is med/low through the front half to get you into waves easily and pick up speed quickly. The rear end has plenty of rocker curve for turning control and a snappy responsiveness. Single concave runs through the entire bottom, with a double concave set inside, which equals speed and lift both on a rail and over flat spots while allowing for quick rail-to-rail transitions. The Ghost's combination of rocker and concave makes for high performance handling through a healthy mix of sensitivity and control.

Depending on what you want to ride it in we recommend you order your Ghosts anywhere from your height to 8" over, a 1/4" to 1/2" wider, and 1/8" to 3/8" thicker than your everyday shorty. All boards come standard with a clear, sand-finish, 5 boxes/plugs, and standard 4/4+4 poly glassing. Carbon tail reinforcement is included at no additional charge.

PU Construction

Building a board in PU/PE means using a Polyurethane foam blank and glassing it with polyester resin. This is how the majority of today’s surfboards are built. It is not a new way to make a board, but the materials are very stable, strong, consistent, and easy to work with. Many surfers prefer the feel of PU/PE boards because that is what they have ridden all their lives and because they feel really good. At Pyzel Surfboards they use only the best foam blanks, highest quality fiberglass, and resin, and hire the best craftsmen they can find. The result is light, tight and white high performance, reasonably priced boards that look beautiful and work great too.

Pyzel Surfboards The Ghost Surfboard The Ghost Rips Review by Cam Cam
This is the Pyzel I have owned and I am really impressed.

First, the glassing. Often I am concerned with the glassing from major surfboard manufactures as they tend to make their boards pretty light which isn't so great if you don't have 10 boards at your disposal. Although I think this board is glassed fairly light the construction and quality is really good and definitely feels stronger than your typical Channel Islands "ultra light".

Second, the shape. This board has a fairly curvy outline which helps the board turn really well. Hard rails on the back third of the board help give a lot of hold and response when doing big turns. I really like the tail shape, it is lose enough on the lip, but also provides hold in the tube or in critical sections. The rocker is pretty perfect, not too much rocker to hinder paddle power, but enough to take off late on steeper waves.

I am 5'10 x 180lbs and I ride the 6'1 version of this board @ 31.3 liters which is quite a bit of volume for a performance short board in my opinion, but the board does a really good job hiding the volume.

Overall I think if you are looking for the best of the best this is it. Also we are very lucky that Cleanline conveniently supplies these quality Hawaiian boards here in the PNW which is a major plus.
