A mutated version of the original Slab, the Pyzel JJF Slab 2.0 Surfboard works even better to improve your session in lumpy, lackluster conditions. The JJF Slab 2.0 is the board John John has been riding for the past year. He even rode one in the 2015 Quiksilver Pro at Snapper, scoring a 9.23 in weak, slow conditions. After hearing his feedback about wanting something that would work better in those kinds of waves, Pyzel took the original Slab and made some significant changes to the bottom contours and rocker.

Pyzel decided to add a deeper, full concave that starts in the nose and blends into deep double concave through the back 1/3 of the board. They also dropped the tail rocker by a full 1/4 inch and made slight adjustments to the nose rocker to better suit the forward concave. The outline is 1/4'' wider in the nose, and just under 1/8' wider through the tail. All these changes have created a board that has more lift and drive than the original Slab, which allows you to get more speed and flow in even smaller, weaker waves than the original could ideally handle.

With a good amount of volume distributed through the whole length of the board you will want to go 1 to 3 inches shorter, 1/4' to 1/2' wider, and about the same thickness as your good wave shortboard. All boards come standard with a clear, sand-finish, 3 boxes/plugs, and standard 4/4+4 poly glassing. Carbon tail reinforcement is included at no additional charge.

PU Construction

Building a board in PU/PE means using a Polyurethane foam blank and glassing it with polyester resin. This is how the majority of today’s surfboards are built. It is not a new way to make a board, but the materials are very stable, strong, consistent, and easy to work with. Many surfers prefer the feel of PU/PE boards because that is what they have ridden all their lives and because they feel really good. At Pyzel Surfboards they use only the best foam blanks, highest quality fiberglass, and resin, and hire the best craftsmen they can find. The result is light, tight and white high performance, reasonably priced boards that look beautiful and work great too.
