If fun is your priority, the Firewire Vacay TimberTek Surfboard has what you need. The Vacay gives leisurely cruise across flat sections with stability, but it also works in the pocket, especially for surfers with a wide stance and even pressure between front and back foot. An extension of the Greedy Beaver shape, the Vacay is a fantastic entry level mini-mal with seamless ‘learn to surf’ capability and great crossover potential for the competent surfer seeking retro glide and maneuverability.

The Vacay draws back to a squash tail where the Greedy Beaver would instead come to a rounded pin, and that gives the Vacay more lift and more of a ‘shortboard’ feel while surfing. Additionally, this shape has a single concave that splits to a double concave towards the tail, which adds a looser feeling beneath your back foot and an ability to pump the board a bit more than the Greedy Beaver. This also allows the Vacay to slide onto a rail more easily, allowing carves not usually possible on a ‘fun board’ type shape with a squash tail. Adding excitement to any average day, the Vacay will be an encouraging infusion to your session.

I bought this board earlier this year, my first mid-length, fun board. It is now my go to board, super fun, responsive, & paddles like a dream.

Firewire Surfboards Vacay TimberTek Surfboard Super Fun Board!Review by SurfyMoto SurfyMoto

This is more than a typical funboard... Its a super fun board! I'm a 5'6" 138lb beginner that has caught very few open faced waves with boards under 8 ft. Started catching open face waves with the 7'2" TT Vacay immediately in waist high reef breaks. Ill add that I am a regular foot with a freshly torn tendon in my left ankle, 3 plates and 16 pins in the tib fib, no ACL in my right knee, a torn labrum in my right shoulder that pops out of the socket (all from motocross) and am still able to comfortably catch open face waves on this board if I find a steady smooth break. Framkly I'm amazed with this board. Easy paddler, very fun, very forgiving, and easy to turn for an out of shape 47yo semi crippled surfer. ????????

The review is spot on for this board. I picked up a 7’2 for waves here in San Diego and Los Angeles. It paddled easy and even easier to get into waves.

I took a tour of Firewire and saw this model in person before it was even released or put out to the public. I was th first one to get ahold of one. It doesn’t disappoint! Very stable also. Give it a try!
