Here we are, a few months into 2013 and we’ve had a lot of time to think about the Fall 2012 wetsuits. We’ve heard your praise, as well as criticism for the different wetsuits we carry and taken that into mind. Also, we’ve had personal experience with many of these suits while surfing in the cold waters here in the Northwest where it takes a top notch wetsuit to stand up to the coldest elements in mid winter. These are all high end wetsuits. I’m not covering the entry level wetsuits that come with detachable hoods. I’m not going to cover features like key pockets, and drain holes. As we mentioned in a previous blog post, Kepa Acero is leaving to Antarctica to scout out surf spots, and become the first European to surf on the continent.  The photo above was posted on Kepa’s Facebook yesterday.  Wearing his Patagonia R4 Wetsuit in water under 2 Degrees Celcius.  Seems like insanity, but then again, the R4 is the warmest suit on the planet.  Here is a video/interview of them departing.  You can follow Kepa at his Facebook Page, or on his YouTube Channel.

The Patagonia R4 Wetsuit has been tested and proven in the coldest weather a surfer would dare to venture out in.  Check out this video where Keith Malloy talks about his recent time surfing in Norway.  Imagine being able to stay warm and comfortable in this weather.  No one is out.  That is what the R4 is all about.
