Patagonia R2 Chest Zip Wetsuit - 2013/2014 Excellent WetsuitReview by Khaled Khaled

This is my first Patagonia and I was slightly worried spending that much money on a wetsuit that's bought online (without trying it out first for size etc). It's a great wetsuit, slightly colder (ocean temperature here varies in winter from 12°C to 16°C) than my 4/3 that I used to have but definitely worth the sacrifice for flexibility and the freedom that I get in the water. I highly recommend if you surfing in cold waters as it will make the experience that much more enjoyable.

So if you really feel the cold (as you can't handle 18/19°C water without wetsuit) I would recommend going with the slightly thicker wetsuit. But I wouldn't recommend any other brand over this one.

I've had a few seasons in Flash bombs and decided to try Patagonia. I'm 6'1" and 190 and the XL fits well. I'd say its a slightly tighter fit in the upper body compared to the Flash bomb.
Also the rubber is maybe a little less stretchy but paddling and surfing in it, I don't notice any big differences.

The water temp around where I live is around 16-17 degrees Celsius and it's plenty warm.

The lining is very comfortable and keeps you warmer for sure. I did the unthinkable and have peed in it a bunch of times. I just wash it with a little wetsuit detergent every 5 or 6 uses and rinse it with water after every use, no worries.

Overall I like the simplicity and it just does what it's supposed to do without all the neon colors and logos.

A bit expensive but totally worth it so far.

Warranty

PatagonIa Ironclad guarantee

We stand behind everything we make, including our wetsuits. But wetsuits require care if they are going to perform and wear the way they were intended. Patagonia is not responsible for wetsuits that are abused or show normal wear and tear over time. Scratches and fading are inevitable, as are tears from the occasional close call with a fin.

Wetsuit Care Guideline:

  • Rinse your wetsuit with fresh water after every use.
  • After rinsing, fold in half at waist and hang dry.
  • Do not store it wet, or in direct sunlight.
  • Suit up carefully. We've selected high-stretch materials for their comfort and function. Avoid overstretching fabric and seams. Do not step on one leg to pull the other leg out.
  • If possible, change in a plastic tub or on a mat

Our wetsuit warranty does not cover upgrading your older Patagonia wetsuit to a current model. We are continuously improving our designs and materials, but that doesn't make your existing wetsuit unsatisfactory. It just means that the next one you buy will be even better than the last.

Returns

We understand that when purchasing gifts, returns and exchanges can be necessary, which is why for the Holidays we are extending our Return Policy so that anything purchased as a gift this Holiday Season is eligible to be returned by the end of January.
