Description

Details

Patagonia R1 wetsuits feature high-quality Japanese superstretch neoprene that you won't find in any other suit on the market. The interior consists of recycled poly fleece constructed as a grid to create dead air space and retain lots of warmth. An internal pullover style neck gasket blocks wind and prevents flushing at the zipper. Neoprene underarm panels are backed by nylon jersey on both sides for better stretch while paddling. All seams are single glued and blindstitched for durability; crotch seams are internally taped. Anatomical, compression molded kneepads are PVC-free for better durability and less environmental harm.

Environmental claims lure customers these days, but not all mean less environmental harm.  Bamboo is the perfect example.  It can be grown organically and without irrigation, so it seems like a green alternative for wetsuits.  The truth is factories typically recover only half of the toxic solvent used to convert bamboo fibers into fabric.  The other half goes straight into the environment.  Thats why Patagonia uses exterior face fabrics and insulative liners made with 100% polyester.  Environmental problems and solutions are always more complex than they seem.  Ask companies tough questions.  It will help you make informed purchases and encourage the industry to keep finding better alternatives.

FABRIC - 2mm neoprene lined with recycled polyester and nylon

Patagonia R1 Back Zip Short Sleeve Spring Wetsuit - 2012/2013 Very nice suitReview by John John

Have an r4 in xlt 6-4 tall and thin. The R4..(2yr old) is a tad roomy in the chest and neck but needed the length. The spring suit I had shipped is a large. Fits perfect. I body surf so my needs are different than board surfer. I used to be able to do 6 hours in a speedo. I am getting older and have hard time staying warm long enough. Went to a 2 ml long sleeve top which was pretty good but billows at the bottom. This suit the ticket. I got it in short sleeve and love it. May consider long sleeve next time because water forces in the sleeve and fills up like a blimp on occasion. The sleeves are snug but body surfing I would probably be better with long. Cleanline was great. I left on short notice and they shipped to my destination.

Warranty

PatagonIa Ironclad guarantee

We stand behind everything we make, including our wetsuits. But wetsuits require care if they are going to perform and wear the way they were intended. Patagonia is not responsible for wetsuits that are abused or show normal wear and tear over time. Scratches and fading are inevitable, as are tears from the occasional close call with a fin.

Wetsuit Care Guideline:

  • Rinse your wetsuit with fresh water after every use.
  • After rinsing, fold in half at waist and hang dry.
  • Do not store it wet, or in direct sunlight.
  • Suit up carefully. We've selected high-stretch materials for their comfort and function. Avoid overstretching fabric and seams. Do not step on one leg to pull the other leg out.
  • If possible, change in a plastic tub or on a mat

Our wetsuit warranty does not cover upgrading your older Patagonia wetsuit to a current model. We are continuously improving our designs and materials, but that doesn't make your existing wetsuit unsatisfactory. It just means that the next one you buy will be even better than the last.

Returns

We understand that when purchasing gifts, returns and exchanges can be necessary, which is why for the Holidays we are extending our Return Policy so that anything purchased as a gift this Holiday Season is eligible to be returned by the end of January. If you are not 100% satisfied with your product you may return it for a full refund, or exchange by the end of the month of January 2015.
