- O'Neill Women's D-Lux Mod 5/4 W/Hood Wetsuit - 2014 very warm, a bit smallReview by nn nn
RatingI wore this in 45 degree water with 30s air temp and stayed warm for 2 hours of surfing. To me it seems like this suit is impossible to get out of without help, but another reviewer says it stretches to your shape and gets easier to remove so that gives me hope. I went a size up on this and they seem to run a little small-- I might have been better off with two sizes up from what I wear in other brands even though I am in the height range for the one I have on the size chart. The one thing I really dislike about this suit is the hood, which I find very painful to wear because it digs with force into my jaw. I will probably never wear the hood again and may buy a separate, more comfortable hood instead. But the reason I picked this suit was because the hood is optional, so this flaw does not ruin the suit. In fact this was the only womens suit I could find anywhere that has a neck/chest zip instead of back zipper and that does not have a built in hood. I wanted a warm 5/4 chest zip without a hood, and that's what I got.(Posted on 1/29/2016) 2016-01-29
- O'Neill Women's D-Lux Mod 5/4 W/Hood Wetsuit - 2014 Very cosyReview by Serena Serena
RatingI am from down under so for most of the year we don't wear much more than a bikini and a smile in the surf. I wasn't sure how I would like a 5/4. I surfed up at Montauk last weekend in 7 C water temps and was extremely warm and comfortable in the suit. It was much more flexible than I expected. With the booties hood and gloves, I had no issue staying in the water for around 2 hours and only came in because my hands started to go numb (small hands, long fingers, gloves didn't quite fit). It does feel strange surfing in so much gear (no need for boots, gloves and hoods at home) but now I have the D-lux I will be able to surf into the U.S winter, when hopefully a decent sized swell hits the US East coast.(Posted on 5/10/2014) 2014-05-10
Being a neck zip, the suit was a tussle to extract myself from (AA-B chests shouldn't have this issue) but the tussle was a small price to pay for the warmth provided by removing the back zip. I would rather spend 2 hours in the water and 10 minutes getting out of the suit than spend 20 seconds getting out a back zip suit and only 20 minutes in the water because leaking via the back zip allows water to enter and create a pool of cold water around my torso causing my body temperature to drop. I get hypothermia pretty easily (even down under) so I was stoked to last more than a few minutes in water temps which are colder than the air temps I experience at home. When I get a spring suit I am sticking with the neck zip despite the tussle. The warmth factor definitely wins me over. Thanks to the Cleanline team for hooking me up with my new suit. Your expertise was much appreciated given that I am a winter wetsuit novice. When I called on a weekend I was expecting to have to leave a message, so being able to get everything sorted straight away and have my suit in time for a surf trip the following weekend was a bonus.

RatingThe O'Neill mod is a great women's hooded suit. The versatility of going with or without the hood is great if you need a warm suit but don't necessarily want to have two suits one for very cold conditions and one for moderately cold conditions. The neoprene has amazing flexibility and I do not at all feel restricted when in the water. It really acts as a second skin. The first couple times I wore the suit it was VERY hard to get off, but after about three times the neoprene took my shape and now it is no problem at all. It is my go to for a women's hooded suit.(Posted on 10/27/2013) 2013-10-27
