The following Summer Series models are JS’s most current and reputable small wave models. The Summer series commits itself to gaining the most out of small to average conditions allowing more days in the water.
Recently I felt there was a gap between the PIER PONY and the Rock N Roll, so I revisited a concept I was surfing a lot last year in tiny 1 to 2 footers. Wanting to make a super fun, small wave board that also performed as well as looked good; I spent some time to re-develop the idea and the missing piece of the Summer Series.. the MATRIX was found.
The small amount of nose curve which flows into a long straight section through the middle of the board maximises your speed and projection through flat sections. This critical flat section, coupled with late tail curve under your back foot, right where you want to turn, gives rad maneuverability and release.
It’s well formulated outline has a narrow nose, wide point slightly back and straight section leading into a wide-ish hip squash. These factors all work together with the bottom curves to give amazing planning speed, yet has you turning (catch free) in the tight part of the wave.
Designed to be ridden 4-6 inches shorter than your performance shortboard, this new design for summer should fill the void.
Have fun this summer riding the MATRIX.
RAIL TYPE - MATRIX has higher volume performance rail.
WAVE HEIGHT - Depending on fins and conditions, MATRIX is designed to perform best in average to above average waves from 0 - 3 feet.
FIN TYPE - MATRIX comes stock with 5 fin options to maximise performance options in an variety of conditions.
FLAT EXIT ROCKER - Flat (smallest) exit rocker will create drive and speed in small weak conditions.
FLAT ENTRY ROCKER - Best rocker for creating speed and glide in small to average conditions.
CONCAVE - Single concave starts in the nose to direct water under your feet for lift and speed. Double starts under front foot through to fins and directs water release for speed and maneuverability.
