The PERFORMER SERIES defines the boards that best suit performance surfing in hi performance conditions. These models are the primary boards used by all our team during WCT competition. But don't be discouraged, this does not mean they are beyond the reach of the everyday surfer; rather they are the peak in performance equipment giving you the greatest opportunity to perform at your best.
The new generation surfboard. The LOWDOWN was developed throughout the end of 2013 with surfers like Julian Wilson and Kai Hing. Julians performance at Lowers and the conversations following, established there was still plenty of room for design change, particularly when waves were just too weak for the MONSTA. His style and combination of hard rail turns and aerials required a new approach to volume distribution, rail type and rocker.
The key element in the LOWDOWN is the volume, which is pushed forward allowing you to drive and generate speed more from the front foot. With more volume forward, the foam over the fins is removed, increasing board sensitivity under the back foot.
RAIL TYPE - The LOWDOWN rails are a slightly fuller and softer rail compared to others in the HP series. They are specially designed to give you speed through turns and reduce catching.
WAVE HEIGHT - Best performance of LOWDOWN will be found in both soft to fun waves between 1 and 5 feet. The JS team is surfing the LOWDOWN around their locals breaks when conditions are poor. The Team will expect to ride LOWDOWN in contests like - Lower Trestles - Huntington - Brazil - Japan - Sydney
FIN TYPE - LOWDOWN comes stock and is recommended as a thruster.
MEDIUM ENTRY ROCKER - LOWDOWN has a unique entry rocker, its curve flattens out quickly to reduce resistance and ensure a sweet spot under your foot.
MEDIUM EXIT ROCKER - Late curve under the back foot allows good release and leaves room for an extended sweet spot through the center of the board and under your front foot.
CONCAVE - Single concave starts in the nose to direct water under your feet for lift and speed.
