Behold the stubby, chunky and ridiculously fun Firewire Sweet Potato FST Surfboard. Loaded with volume and set up for slow, clunky surf, the Sweet Potato dramatically changes the ratio between the length and width of a board while still allowing the design to perform at a very high level.
"The aggressive bottom contour creates considerable lift and the deep double concave with a "spine" down the middle divide the board in half isolating the fins, rocker and bottom on one side of the board at a time. This allows the board to get on a rail quickly. The Sweet Potato is the board you should always bring on a surf check, and you'll find yourself ripping on small days where you'd otherwise go home." - Dan Mann

FST relies primarily on the Parabolic Balsa Rail to control flex while the high density aerospace composite vacuumed to both top and bottom decks provides significant impact strength, and is stronger than the traditional PU surfboard. Please note our boards are definitely not indestructible and if slammed by a thick lip, or if you land incorrectly in the flats after doing an aerial, it is possible to break them.
The Parabolic Balsa Rail features 12mm balsa built from 3 x 4mm strips, which as mentioned not only control flex and add strength, but also act as a buffer against rail dings. Furthermore, the long-term flex memory supplied by the balsa rails ensures boards maintain their lively feel for longer. With a retail price point slightly above premium polyurethane surfboards, FST offers an extremely high performance, durable surfboard.

- Firewire Surfboards Sweet Potato FST Surfboard Exceeds expectations. Review by Dave Dave
RatingJust got this board after a long run on a TT Baked potato. Went for slightly higher volume for super weak, gutless waves. I'm 6'6", 225lbs, and an intermediate surfer on my best days. Went with the 6'4", which catches waves like a longboard. My first day out was gutless, waist high with significant cross/offshore. The kind of day that makes you thing twice about putting on the wetsuit. Waves were messy, but I had a blast. With my height and leverage, the big size isn't an issue at all. Probably could have gone for a 6'2 or 6'0", but I'm getting lazy in my old age. Also, FST because it is super durable. No dents yet and as I mentioned, I am quite large.(Posted on 3/31/2017) 2017-03-31
Great board, looking forward to summer.
