Dan Mann began building custom boards in 1996. Over the last 18 years, he has been at the cutting edge of surfboard shaping and innovation including all aspects of board building. In addition to building his own brand Mannkine, Dan has shaped and glassed boards for Channel Islands, glassed for Rusty, Xanadu, and Joel Tudor. Since then he has become the head of Design and Research & Development for Firewire Surfboards. His designs include the best selling Dominator, Sweet Potato, Potatonator, Baked Potato, and the Unibrow.
Our Marketing Director, Chuy Reyna, was looking for all the benefits of the Dominator but even more performance. The SPITFIRE combines a Diamond tail and STEP-DOWN tail rail, giving the SPITFIRE the tail bite of a thinner board, without losing the Dominator's speed and flotation. The SPITFIRE offers the same 5/4/3 fin options and a low entry rocker for easy paddling.
"Grom" boards available at special pricing.
TIMBERTEK represents a significant step forward towards the holy grail of any product designed and manufactured in today's environmentally conscious world. While by no means sustainably built, Firewire's TIMBERTEK has by far one of the least toxic and smallest carbon footprints of any commercially available surfboard today..
The combination of a lightweight EPS core, sustainably-grown wood deck skins, Firewire's proprietary parabolic rail construction, and anEntropy bio-resin hot coat yield an extremely lightweight, durable surfboard with ALL of the high performance flex characteristics of Firewire's existing technologies. Even more impressive, the physical properties of the raw materials involved have allowed us to remove exterior fiberglass, furthering the reduction of the board’s carbon footprint. Or as we like to describe TIMBERTEK, it's simply High Performance Art.

RatingI'm 6'4 210lbs beg/int. Demoed the 6'6" and rode it as a thruster on a 3-5 ft day at Shorties. It was perfect for those conditions. Super fast and skatey and was able to get past a couple sections I might not normally make. It didn't paddle as well as the Dominator in the same size, but was def more high performance. I doubt at my weight and ability I could ride it in smaller conditions, but for 3-5 ft magic!(Posted on 9/2/2015) 2015-09-02
