Dan Mann began building custom boards in 1996. Over the last 18 years, he has been at the cutting edge of surfboard shaping and innovation including all aspects of board building. In addition to building his own brand Mannkine, Dan has shaped and glassed boards for Channel Islands, glassed for Rusty, Xanadu, and Joel Tudor. Since then he has become the head of Design and Research & Development for Firewire Surfboards. His designs include the best selling Dominator, Sweet Potato, Potatonator, Baked Potato, and the Unibrow.
Designer Dan Mann describes the DOUBLE AGENT: “This design features a double barrel concave running from nose to tail. We introduced the same ‘double barrel through the fins’ on the Sweet Potato, Baked Potato, and the Potatonator, and trusting that there can’t be too much of a good thing, I went ahead and extended that feature all the way forward. This adds to the board’s sensitivity under front foot loading.
The other unique feature is a dramatic reduction in the foil/thickness starting around the mid-point of the board and continuing out the tail. I was inspired by skimboarders and how they pull off huge slashing carves and airs on incredibly thin boards with curvy outlines, so I wanted to incorporate some of those characteristics into a surfboard. As a result, the noticeably thin tail on the DOUBLE AGENT allows for very sensitive rail to rail turns and an extra pop of flex when you unload at the completion of a turn. The thicker foil up front preserves elevated paddle power and keeps the float under your chest.”
Ideal for knee to shoulder high surf, ride the DOUBLE AGENT in the middle to higher end of your volume range. Suitable for surfers of all abilities.

FUTURE SHAPES TECHNOLOGY
FST relies primarily on the PARABOLIC Balsa Rail to control flex while the high density aerospace composite vacuumed to both top and bottom decks provides significant impact strength, and is stronger than the traditional PU surfboard. Please note our boards are definitely not indestructible and if slammed by a thick lip, or if you land incorrectly in the flats after doing an aerial, it is possible to break them.
The Parabolic Balsa Rail features 12mm balsa built from 3 x 4mm strips, which as mentioned not only control flex and add strength, but also act as a buffer against rail dings. Furthermore, the long-term flex memory supplied by the balsa rails ensures boards maintain their lively feel for longer.
With a retail price point slightly above premium polyurethane surfboards, FST offers an extremely high performance, durable surfboard.
