From the minds of two surf industry legends, comes the full throttle Firewire Banana Surfboard. One of the first production models from Slater Designs, the Banana was built for extreme high performance surfing in near perfect conditions. The continuous blend of the substantial rocker was inspired by the extreme rocker boards that Greg Webber and Shane Herring developed in the early 90’s. This far more user-friendly version has been refined by Greg and Kelly to suit the precise and distinct needs of highly talented bros, tube chasing lifers and professional surfers in top quality waves.
With a slight bump wing in front of the fins, a widened and minutely squashed pin tail and a generous single concave bottom contour, the Banana has a knack for smooth, speedy lines and tight, powerful turns. The super smooth curve on the Banana fits well into the face of true performance waves allowing the rider to experience a new sense of freedom on rail and a deep feeling of control in the pit. When you're at the top of your game and the ocean grows big, clean and hollow, grab a Banana and paddle out for the ride of your life.

FST relies primarily on the Parabolic Balsa Rail to control flex while the high density aerospace composite vacuumed to both top and bottom decks provides significant impact strength, and is stronger than the traditional PU surfboard. Please note our boards are definitely not indestructible and if slammed by a thick lip, or if you land incorrectly in the flats after doing an aerial, it is possible to break them.
The Parabolic Balsa Rail features 12mm balsa built from 3 x 4mm strips, which as mentioned not only control flex and add strength, but also act as a buffer against rail dings. Furthermore, the long-term flex memory supplied by the balsa rails ensures boards maintain their lively feel for longer. With a retail price point slightly above premium polyurethane surfboards, FST offers an extremely high performance, durable surfboard.
